SAN DIEGO - The northbound state Route 125 connector to westbound state Route 94 in Lemon Grove was briefly closed Monday due to an investigation into a possible road rage shooting.
The shooting happened just before 4:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities said a Marine on his way to Naval Base San Diego for training on the USS Boxer when he said a Chevrolet Silverado truck pulled up next to him on the roadway. He said someone in the truck rolled down a window, fired 4-5 shots at his Nissan Titan truck and then sped away.
The victim's truck ended up with four bullet holes. He was not injured in the incident.
10News learned the Marine continued on to the base because he did not want to miss the training. His truck was taken by authorities as evidence.
Authorities said the Silverado truck was found in San Ysidro, but the occupants have not been found. The registered owner was not driving the truck at the time of the incident.
Investigators shut the connector down just after 1 p.m. They searched the roadway for any evidence, including shell casings.
