Police: Unlicensed teen driver crashes into car with father, his 3-year-old daughter

Crash happened at 24th St and Highland Ave

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. - A father and his 3-year-old daughter are recovering after a crash involving their car and an unlicensed teen driver in National City, police said.

The crash happened shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday on the intersection of 24th Street and Highland Avenue.

Officers said a 15-year old female was driving northbound on Highland Ave and appeared to have made an illegal left turn when it crashed into a gold Lexus headed southbound on Highland.

Witnesses tell 10News the teen driver got out of the car and ran to a nearby convenience store to call her parents, while at least two boys jumped out of the car and ran away.

The teen driver and the 3-year-old were taken to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries, but both were conscious when emergency responders arrived.

It's not clear if the female driver will face any charges or citations.
