Police search for twin brothers wanted in connection to local homicide

SAN DIEGO - San Diego police Friday sought the public's help in locating twin brothers wanted in connection with a year-old homicide.

Anibal and Edward Avila, 22, are wanted in connection with the April 2013 death of 34-year-old Rafael Robles, according to police, who said the siblings may have fled to Mexico.

Robles was gunned down in the west alley of 4000 39th St. about 2:45 p.m. April 11, 2013. A second man was also wounded in the shooting but survived.

The brothers are Hispanic, with black hair and brown eyes. Anibal stands 5 feet 4 inches and weighs 125 pounds, and Edward is 5 feet 5 inches and 145 pounds.

Anyone with information about the brothers' whereabouts was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
