SAN DIEGO - Police are searching for a man who robbed a discount store in City Heights on Sunday.

The robbery occurred just before 11 a.m. at Sam's Bargain store in the 4100 block of University Avenue.

Police said the man entered the store and asked the clerk to make change for his dollar bill. When the clerk opened the cash register, the man grabbed the cash drawer and ran out.

Before he left, the man claimed he was armed with a handgun, police said. No weapon was seen.

The robber was described as a white man in his 40s who was wearing a brown plaid jacket and black jeans.

No injuries were reported. No arrests have been made.
