Break-ins at San Carlos area schools, 5 arrested

SAN DIEGO - Two juveniles and three adults accused of stealing 37 iPads from Patrick Henry High School were arrested, school district officials said Tuesday.

According to San Diego Unified School District police, a break-in occurred at the school at 6702 Wandermere Drive. Police said the suspects were trying to steal iPads from inside the building. Officers arrested the two after searching a car nearby.

District officials have confirmed that three others linked to the incident were also arrested.

District officials said another break-in was reported at Lewis Middle School at 5170 Greenbrier Avenue -- about three miles away from Patrick Henry High.

A window was smashed at the middle school, a door was left open and the lock to a cage containing iPads was broken. District officials confirmed that nothing was taken in this break-in.

It remains unclear if the suspected thieves in the Patrick Henry High incident were also responsible for the Lewis Middle School break-in.
