SAN DIEGO - Police are searching for a man who they say robbed a downtown-area motel Saturday.

The robbery was reported at 5:52 p.m. at the Red Roof Inn in the 700 block of Ash Street, according to Officer David Stafford of the San Diego Police Department.

Stafford said the man entered the motel and told the clerk he had a gun.

“He demanded cash and fled on foot with cash,'' Stafford said.

The culprit was described as a white man in his 20s, about 6 feet 3, and weighing 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black mask and all blue clothing.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Anyone with information was urged to call San Diego police at 619-531-2000.
