LOS ANGELES - An 11-year-old boy was stabbed to death Monday in the Westlake District and his accused 26-year-old stepfather, who was also injured, has been arrested, a Los Angeles police sergeant said.
The homicide took place inside an apartment at 227 S. Carondolet St., and was reported just before 9 a.m., said LAPD Sgt. Michael Mabie, watch commander at the Rampart Division.
"An 11-year-old boy has died from his stab wounds and we have his attacker, a 26-year-old man, in custody now," Mabie said.
LAPD spokeswoman Norma Eisenman told City News Service the 26-year-old was the boy's stepfather. But Eisenman said she did not know what caused the fight between the boy and his stepfather.
Mabie too declined to discuss what may have caused the fatal struggle between the boy and the man. He also said the 26-year-old was injured in the struggle with the boy and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Mabie said the man had not yet been completely booked due to his medical condition, so his name was not immediately available for release.
The boy's was transported from the scene in cardiac arrest by paramedics, according to emergency radio transmissions. He died at the hospital, Mabie said.
The boy's name was not immediately released, while family members were notified of his death.
