Police Say Woman Stole 2 Rings From Mission Valley Macy's Store

A brazen armed robbery at a busy department store in Mission Valley last week was captured on surveillance cameras.

San Diego police said the woman walked into the Mission Valley Macy's store last week carrying a designer purse and a Macy's shopping bag.The woman first asked the fine jewelry clerk to see two rings that are worth about $12,000 combined, police said."When she was told by the clerk the store policy only allowed one of the very expensive rings to be shown at a time, the suspect opened up a paper shopping bag from Macy's showed the gun inside and said, 'I don't want anybody to get hurt. I need those rings and I've got an armed guy waiting outside for me,'" said San Diego police Lt. Andra Brown.The clerk handed over the rings and the woman disappeared. It was not until later that a manager realized the crook was the same woman who had cased the jewelry counter the day before. Police said there were no signs of an armed accomplice waiting outside.Police described the robber as a black woman in her 20s.
