LA MESA, Calif. - A man who was shot in the face in La Mesa has died, police said Saturday.
La Mesa police received 911 calls at about 9:43 p.m. Friday reporting a traffic collision near the 9100 block of Johnson Drive, police said.
When officers arrived, they found a Hispanic man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the face. The man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.
La Mesa police detectives are now investigating the incident as a homicide, police said Saturday. No arrests have been made at this time.
