SAN DIEGO - A 53-year-old man walking down a street in the East Village area of San Diego was punched and slashed by a stranger, police said Thursday.
The attack in the 1500 block of Imperial Avenue took place about 10 p.m. Wednesday, said San Diego police officer David Stafford. Officers sent to that location found the victim with a 6-inch gash on his face, he said.
The victim reported that, as he walked down the street, a stranger approached him and punched him the face, walked away, then returned and hit him around the head with some object, causing the gash, Stafford said.
The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to Stafford. The description of the suspect was vague: a black male between 45 and 50 years old, wearing dark clothes.
