A shooting in a Skyline-area neighborhood left a man dead on Tuesday.

The gunfire in the 500 block of Meadowbrook Drive was reported just after 5 p.m., according to San Diego police. When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds. Paramedics arrived to treat the man but he died at the scene.

Homicide detectives were called in to investigate, SDPD public-affairs Lt. Andra Brown said.

Police said the victim was walking southbound on the west sidewalk of Meadowbrook Drive when two men walked up behind him. One of the suspects shot the victim and both suspects ran away and got into a waiting car, police said.

The car was described as a tan or brown four-door Honda sedan.

Police described the two suspects as young adult black men. Both were wearing dark clothing.

The victim's identity will not be released until his family is notified.

A motive for the shooting was unclear. Detectives and forensic specialists are currently processing the scene for evidence and trying to locate witnesses.
