The incidents were reported at about 9:30 p.m. as the planes were trying to take off from Lindbergh Field. A Harbor Police sergeant told 10News both planes involved were Southwest Airlines. No more information about the incident was available late Wednesday.

Police believe the source of the laser may have possibly been in the 3600 block of Witherby Street in Mission Hills.

This type of incident can cause a major distraction for the pilot because the laser can illuminate the entire cockpit. The laser can also cause blindness and permanent damage if it is directed into the pilot's eyes.

No damage or injuries have been reported.

The incident remains under investigation.
