SAN DIEGO - San Diego police announced Wednesday that the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl in Chollas View is "unfounded."
Detectives assigned to the Child Abuse Unit had been working with the victim and her family to identify and follow up on possible leads. Earlier Wednesday, she changed her version of the event and confirmed that the incident did not involve a gun or a stranger.
According to police, the investigation confirmed that the case is not a stranger case and does not involve any adults.
She originally told police Monday that she had been forced into a vehicle at gunpoint, was driven away and sexually assaulted.
