2 injured in drive-by shooting in North Park

SAN DIEGO - Police are investigating a drive-by shooting in North Park that left two people wounded.

The incident was reported at about 10:20 p.m. Monday near University Avenue at Villa Terrace. San Diego police Lt. Paul Phillips told 10News four young men were walking northbound on Villa Terrace from Wightman Street when a red four-door vehicle pulled up next to the group and someone inside the vehicle started shooting.

A 24-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his hand, and a 28-year-old man was hit in the ankle. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Villa Terrace has been blocked off from University to Wightman Street while officers conduct their investigation.

It is unclear if the shooting is gang-related.
