Investigators are looking into a fire that destroyed two vehicles in an apartment complex in El Cajon early Wednesday.
The fire was reported at 1:50 a.m. on the 1200 block of East Madison. Authorities say the fire started with a white pickup truck and quickly spread to another car. Flames reached also the roof of the carport and a second story of the apartment building.
No injuries were reported but two people were displaced by the fire.
"Ran out of the house, saw fire coming out the side here," said Bernard Royal, one of the residents displaced by the fire along with his father. "Me and my dad met at the front door, kind of ran out, knocked on everybody's doors ... to get everybody out of here, called the fire department."
The displaced residents told 10News the fire did get into the walls and floor of their apartment.
Officials are looking into the cause of the fire. According to Ted Kakuris, batallion chief for Heartland Fire & Rescue, arson investigators are on scene.
