Husband arrested in connection with Oceanside woman's death

OCEANSIDE, Calif. - Police on Friday have arrested a 68-year-old Oceanside man in connection with the death of his wife.
The incident occurred in the 400 block of North Ditmar Street. Neighbors called police at about 11 a.m. to report a foul odor.
Inside the home, police found the body of a 74-year-old woman. Police said she lives in the home with her husband, who was not home when officers arrived. He was identified by police as Frederick Hengl.
Police later found him in the downtown Oceanside area. He voluntarily went with officers to the police headquarters for questioning.
Detectives interviewed Hengl and he was subsequently arrested. He will be booked into the Vista Detention Facility on a charge of murder.
Police said the victim was dismembered in this case. Her identity has not been released.
10News has learned there was a referral to the home for adult protective services. Details were not available.
