SAN DIEGO - A woman was arrested on charges of attempted murder and child abuse after her baby girl was found unconscious in a bathtub.
Whitney Holman, 22, was booked into the Las Colinas Women's Detention Facility, police said Saturday.
The infant, which was believed to be 10 months old, was found unresponsive at a City Heights apartment Friday in an apparent case of near-drowning in a bathtub, authorities reported.
The baby's mother made a call shortly after 3:30 p.m. to report the emergency in the 4100 block of 42nd Street, according to San Diego police.
Medics performed CPR at the scene before taking the infant to Rady Children's Hospital, where she remains in critical condition. Police say the mother was the only other person at home with the infant.
Detectives from the Child Abuse Unit arrived on scene and began their investigation. As a result of that investigation, Holman was arrested.
She is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, according to jail records.
