SAN DIEGO -
A suspect was arrested Tuesday in the fatal stabbing of a man in Logan Heights.
Julio Ceja Perez, 40, was booked into county jail early Tuesday morning in connection with the death of 22-year-old Bernardo Ruiz-Torres, according to San Diego police.
Shortly before 6 p.m. Monday, officers responding to a report of a fight near the intersection of 22nd Street and Imperial Avenue found 22-year-old Bernardo Ruiz-Torres lying on a sidewalk, suffering from stab wounds, SDPD Lt. Jorge Duran said.
The victim was taken to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead.
Near where Ruiz-Torres was found, police contacted Perez, who was treated at a hospital for facial injuries, the lieutenant said.
After questioning Perez and his girlfriend, detectives arrested him on suspicion of murder. He was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
It was unclear what prompted the dispute between the two men.
