Man stabbed during fight in front of Stockton KFC restaurant identified

SAN DIEGO - Authorities on Saturday publicly identified the man who was fatally stabbed in the chest during a fight with several other people in the parking lot of a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in southeast San Diego's Stockton neighborhood.

Jeffry John Rees, 25, of San Diego was rushed to a hospital, where he later died, following the fight outside the restaurant at 3195 Market St. about 3:10 p.m. Friday, according to San Diego police and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police detained for questioning a man and a woman whom witnesses said were involved in the fight and who were leaving the scene in a blue sedan, said San Diego police Lt. Jorge Duran.
