SAN DIEGO - A 43-year-old man was jailed Tuesday on suspicion of murdering a woman he dated and leaving her body in a Talmadge motel room, police said.
Stacey Ricardo Johnson of San Diego was already in custody for a another crime when he was booked Friday on suspicion of homicide in the death of 47-year-old Candace Vursula Hamilton of San Diego, according to San Diego police homicide Lt. Mike Hastings.
Hamilton checked into the motel in the 4900 block of El Cajon Boulevard the evening of June 1. The manager found her body in the room the next day, Hastings said. An autopsy determined Hamilton died of asphyxia, he said.
Johnson could be arraigned as early as this afternoon. Jail records showed he has been locked up since June 10.
