Point Loma-Area Chase Bank Robbed

Robbery Occurred At Bank In 3600 Block Of Midway Drive

A man with a handgun robbed a Point Loma Heights bank on Saturday and fled with a cooler of cash, San Diego police said.

The man walked up to a teller at the Chase Bank branch at 3609 Midway Drive just after 3 p.m. waved a black handgun in the air and demanded money, police said.

He placed the undisclosed amount he was given into a white cooler he was carrying then left in a 2000 Ford SUV headed southbound on Kemper Street, police said.

No one was injured, police said.

The robber was described as a white man in his mid-20s who was between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt over a light colored hat, dark pants and white latex gloves.
