Pipe break sends sewage streaming down Rancho Santa Fe street

RANCHO SANTA FE - A sewage pipe broke late Monday night, sending raw sewage onto a street and golf course in Rancho Santa Fe.

The break occurred in a sewage force main in the 6000 block of La Granada sometime before 11:30 p.m. The line broke, causing the street to buckle as the sewage bubbled up to the surface. It flowed down the road and onto the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club.

The Rancho Santa Fe Fire and Rancho Santa Fe Community Services districts responded. It took about one hour for city crews to get the sewage pumps turned off.

Officials at the scene said they would have to dig up the road to repair the main.

It was not immediately confirmed if the golf club would be open Tuesday morning.
