VISTA, Calif. - A 68-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at a Vista intersection, sheriff's officials said Saturday.
The man was struck by a Ford sedan about 10:20 p.m. Friday as he was attempting to cross Santa Fe Avenue at Angeles Vista Drive, according to sheriff's Deputy Kenneth Werner.
The southbound driver was unable to steer around the pedestrian, who was crossing from the east, and crashed into him, Werner said. The crossing is a T-shaped junction of two two-lane streets.
The man died at the scene, Werner said. His name was not immediately released.
The driver of the sedan was not injured, and Werner said alcohol did not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
