OCEANSIDE, Calif. - The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a freight train at an Oceanside crossing was publicly identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office on Sunday as a 29-year-old Oceanside man.
Jason Alan Frank was hit shortly before 10 p.m. Friday by a northbound BNSF train at a crossing at Mission Avenue near North Cleveland Street.
He was thrown a short distance into a dirt gully along the tracks, sheriff's officials and the Medical Examiner's Office reported.
Emergency personnel were called and despite resuscitative efforts, Frank died at the scene, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.
