NATIONAL CITY – Police are looking for a man who ran off after he was struck by a car in National City Wednesday night.
At around 10:15 p.m. a family was driving down East Division Avenue, near Osborn Street, when their car reportedly struck a man who was in the road, according to National City police. The victim then ran away.
The collision caved in the windshield, but nobody in the vehicle was hurt. A young boy asleep in the back seat was not awoken by the crash.
Police searched the neighborhood with the help of a helicopter for over an hour, but were unable to find the victim. They were concerned about what injuries he may have sustained.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. It was not clear if he would face any charges.
