Patrons of Chula Vista bar accused of loitering, littering, having sex in neighborhood yards

Residents asking city, police for help

CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Several Chula Vista residents are hoping the city and police help them with the patrons of Wild Woolly's Saloon, a bar located on Broadway.

Resident Carmen Quiros told 10News she faces a new problem every night.

"We find used condoms in our backyard," she said. "We find empty alcohol bottles."

"We caught them having sex on the grass," said Audrey Hall, who has lived in the neighborhood for about 30 years. "I've even stood out on my yard and hollered at them."

Chula Vista police Capt. Gary Wedge said he has heard the complaints before. He said police have met with neighbors and the owner of Wild Woolly's. It resulted in new lights along the road behind the bar. The bar's owner also took extra steps to make sure her patrons go home instead of hanging around outside.

"The bar owner has been incredibly receptive. Everything we have asked of her, she has done," said Wedge, who added police regularly patrol the area.

However, neighbors told 10News the problem persists.

"We're a residential area and we shouldn't have to put up with this," said Hall.

"People are still unhappy. If people are still unhappy, our job is to do what we can to address those concerns," said Wedge.

10News spoke to the bar's owner, Norma Hall, on the phone. Hall said she is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure Wild Woolly's is a better neighbor. She already has her security patrol the surrounding area to make sure patrons go home.
