Authorities Thursday publicly identified a 58-year-old man killed in a shooting on the Pala Indian Reservation this week.

Pala resident Bruce Molina was shot while sitting in a vehicle in the 11900 block of Ortega Road near Second Street early Monday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Paramedics attempted to save his life, but he died at the scene.

"At this point, it appears the victim was sitting in a vehicle when unknown persons shot several rounds into the vehicle striking the victim multiple times," sheriff's Sgt. Todd Norton said.

A suspect description was not immediately available.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the sheriff's department at (858) 974-2321 or after hours at (858) 565-5200. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
