According to witnesses, the driver of a Nissan Altima was involved in a crash at an intersection on San Miguel Ranch Road.

The driver and passenger left the scene at a high-rate of speed and ended up slamming into a palm tree on the side of the road, with the car catching fire moments after impact.

Two good Samaritans pulled the man and woman out of the car.

“She got pulled out and like gasped and fainted. They pulled her to the side of the street and they pulled him out of the passenger side also. He had a broken foot and they just pulled them over to the side in the dirt," hit-and-run victim Benjamin Henry said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver and passenger were taken to a local hospital.

After the driver was seen by doctors, he was arrested by the CHP for hit-and-run and on suspicion of driving under the influence.
