'Swing for your Seats' offers Padres fans a shot to score 2 season tickets

SAN DIEGO - Padres fans got a rare chance to step up to the home plate on Saturday at Petco Park. It was all part of "Swing for your Seats" and it was a shot to score two season tickets.

Fans received two pitches but just one shot to swing the bat. If they hit a home run, they received two premier club season tickets. The tickets are valued at more than $4,600.

One thousand people signed up. 10News talked to some while they waited in line. Many did not think they had a shot at hitting it out of the park but they did not want to miss out on the experience. People loved the idea so much that the spots filled up fast and organizers had to start a wait list.

Former star quarterback Donovan McNabb and Ephraim Salaam were two of the people expected to try their hands at a homer.

The event was open to anyone to watch for free through 4 p.m.

You can watch the pros take a crack at it during the Padres home opener on March 30.
