Six people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs at an overnight checkpoint in Pacific Beach, police said Saturday.

A total of 1,183 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, which was set up from 10:18 p.m. Friday to 2:44 a.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Garnet Avenue, San Diego police Officer Mark McCullough said.Officers stopped 889 vehicles, impounding seven of them, and evaluated the sobriety of 12 drivers, he said.One driver was issued a citation for having an open alcoholic beverage, McCullough said.Copyright Do you have more information about this story?
