Chula Vista will celebrate 100 years next month in grand fashion with a massive festival, fireworks, and a free concert featuring multi-platinum rock group P.O.D. Chula Vista announced the group's participation Wednesday morning. The members of the band have strong ties to San Diego and the South Bay.

Known as a hard-working band, P.O.D.s performances blend reggae grooves, Latin beats, hip-hop and powerful rock chords.P.O.D. will headline the Centennial Celebration October 15th at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. The daylong free event will feature vendors, food, music, and entertainment. Additional bands and performances will offer something for every generation and musical taste throughout the day. Residents and guests from around the San Diego region are invited to come out and enjoy family activities, a free car show, carnival, craft beer and margarita garden and a wide variety of food served all day."Chula Vistas Centennial Celebration is about recognizing the best of Chula Vista and having P.O.D. come home to the South Bay is the icing on the cake," said Laurel McFarlane, Chula Vista resident and CEO of McFarlane Promotions the events production company.It is just one event in the year-long celebration for the South Bay city.
