SAN DIEGO - The death of a 16-year-old girl found severely injured at the base of the Upper Otay Lakes Dam has been ruled a suicide by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
According to authorities, the girl had been reported missing and was found at the dam early Monday evening.
10News learned that the teen fell at least 75 feet and was submerged in water up to her neck. She suffered injuries to the head and a broken leg and hip.
The girl was airlifted from the scene and rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to her injuries later that night.
The medical examiner's office determined the cause of death to be blunt impact injuries of the head and the manner of death was deemed a suicide.
