SAN DIEGO – Officers quickly recovered a pickup truck and arrested one of two suspects following a carjacking in San Diego’s Encanto neighborhood early Monday morning.

The carjacking occurred near a gas station in the area of 63rd Street and Imperial Avenue at around 1:15 a.m. The victim told San Diego police he pulled over his 2013 Toyota Tacoma after the tire pressure warning light came on. When he got out to check his tires, he was jumped by a man and a woman, who stole his truck.

It took responding officers about 45 minutes to find the truck. A San Diego police helicopter spotted it in the area of Imperial Avenue and Linnet Street.

Police shut down a small section of Linnet Street and began questioning people at a house near where the truck was found. One woman was arrested. Police said the male suspect remains on the loose. No names were released.

The victim suffered minor injuries, but he did not require hospitalization. The truck contained several thousand dollars’ worth of construction equipment for the victim’s business.
