A man shot while allegedly coming at an El Cajon police officer with a metal bar in a hand remained hospitalized Sunday.

The shooting in the 500 block of East Main Street occurred at about noon Saturday, police said.Police said they received 911 calls reporting that a man was chasing someone with a crow bar.Witnesses told 10News that a fight was taking place in the parking lot of El Cajon Market on Main Street and Avocado Avenue. "As the first officer arrived, the suspect was standing in the middle of East Main Street with a large metal bar in his hand," an El Cajon police lieutenant said. "The officer exited his vehicle and the suspect, armed with the metal bar, charged at him. The officer fired several rounds at the suspect, striking him in the stomach, leg and hand."The wounded man was taken to a hospital, police said.Copyright Do you have more information about this story?
