Oceanside parents relieved after arrests made in Libby Lake Park shooting

OCEANSIDE, Calif. - Parents in Oceanside are relieved police have made arrests in connection with the shooting deaths of two teenagers in Libby Lake Park.
Thank God they got them. I am glad," parent Jose Cervantes told 10News on Sunday. "Thank God they got them."
The suspects were identified as 21-year-old Martin Melendrez, 19-year-old Michael Zarita and 18-year-old Santo Diaz. A juvenile was also arrested. The three men are scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
All four were taken into custody early Saturday morning after investigators served search warrants at five separate locations in Vista and Oceanside. Investigators say the arrests are gang-related.
On March 13, 15-year-old Edgar Sanchez and 13-year-old Melanie Virgen were fatally shot in Libby Lake Park. Two other teenagers were also wounded in the shooting.
News of the arrests is a relief to parents.
"That's what we want… to have a better a safer community for our kids and our families," said Cervantes.
Oceanside police told 10News this remains an open investigation.
