A North County house fire sent one person to a hospital Wednesday and displaced a total of 14 residents.

The blaze in the 4900 block Siesta Drive in Oceanside erupted for unknown reasons shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to Pete Lawrence, a battalion chief with the city's fire department.

It took crews about 25 minutes to extinguish the flames, which mostly damaged the garage and attic of the single-story home, Lawrence said.

Medics took a woman in her mid-30s to a hospital, where she was admitted in stable condition. Lawrence declined to disclose the type of injuries she had suffered.

The American Red Cross was called in to help the residents -- five adults and nine children -- arrange for interim lodging pending repairs to the structure. It was unclear if all of them belong to the same family.

Investigators set the monetary losses at roughly $10,000. The cause of the blaze was under investigation, the battalion chief said.
