SAN DIEGO - There's some bad news for fans of the controversial Ocean Beach annual "Marshmallow Wars."
The Ocean Beach Town Council voted unanimously Wednesday night to work with police and local businesses to end the 25-year-old Fourth of July tradition.
Council members hope the event will stop being promoted.
Ocean Beach becomes a sticky mess each year when hundreds show up to throw marshmallows at each other.
Veterans have been especially vocal because marshmallows usually end up at a nearby memorial. Others created a Facebook Page calling for the end of the event.
