LOS ANGELES - Saturday's Powerball drawing will grow to $70 million after no tickets were sold with all six numbers in the first drawing of the multi-state Powerball lottery in which California participated, officials reported.
One ticket with five of the numbers but missing the Powerball number was sold in Indiana and is worth $1 million, a California Lottery official announced.
The numbers drawn Wednesday were 1, 36, 40, 52, 53 and the Powerball number was 20. The estimated jackpot was $60 million.
The odds of matching all five numbers and the Powerball number is 1 in 175,223,510, according to the Powerball website. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 31.85.
The Powerball game is played in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
