San Diego Cool Zones

Those without air conditioning, who want to reduce energy costs or who have a special need to escape mid-day summer heat can do so by visiting designated "Cool Zones" throughout the city and county of San Diego.

The county, along with San Diego Gas and Electric, offers more than 100 public places,  mostly at libraries, senior centers and recreation centers, for seniors and low-income families to escape the heat.

Washington St.; City Heights Recreation Center, 4380 Landis St.; North Park Library, 3795 31st St.; Linda Vista Library, 2160 Ulric St.; and Kensington/Normal Heights Library, 4121 Adams Ave.
