New video in Oak Park Walmart robbery, shooting

SAN DIEGO - Police have released new surveillance video of a suspect who fired shots in a crowded Walmart during a robbery last month.

The robbery occurred May 6 at about 10 p.m. at 3412 College Ave. According to San Diego police, the suspect approached one of the clerks at a cash register and demanded cash. The cashier did not act quickly enough, apparently, and the suspect fired a handgun into the ceiling.

He pulled cash from the drawer and fled to a vehicle and escaped. New video shows the man running through the parking lot.

Investigators believe the same suspect was responsible for an armed robbery at the same store on Nov. 23, 2013. In that case, the suspect also fired a handgun at the ceiling. No one was hurt in either incident.

The man was described as black, 30 to 40 years of age, 5-foot-8 to 6-foot-1 with a heavy build, a beard and his hair pulled into a bun. He was wearing a gray cap, a black and gray sweater or jacket and a black flannel shirt underneath. He also had on black pants and white tennis shoes.

The make and model of the escape vehicle was unknown.

Anyone with information on the case should call San Diego police at 619-531-2299 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
