POWAY - Family and friends will hold a vigil Thursday for a Poway teen who was killed 47 years ago.
Nikki Benedict, 14, was walking home when she was stabbed and discovered by an 11-year-old boy on a Poway Road field on May 1, 1967. She was transported to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Deputies said an investigation showed evidence of a struggle but her murder remains unsolved.
Loved ones plan to honor Nikki at 6 p.m. Thursday at Poway Community Park.
San Diego County Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward and Nikki's friends are offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of the person or people responsible for the murder.
