Multiple closures on San Diego County roadways scheduled for this weekend

SAN DIEGO - Drivers are being asked to prepare for multiple closures on various roadways around San Diego County this weekend.

Project to shut down Mira Mesa Blvd. this weekend

Both sides of Mira Mesa Boulevard near Interstate 805 will be shut down starting Friday evening due to road work.

Caltrans officials say eastbound and westbound Mira Mesa Boulevard will close starting 9 p.m. on Friday. Motorists will be detoured to Sorrento Valley Boulevard to cross under I-805.

The westbound side will reopen Sunday at 10 a.m. and the eastbound lanes will be open on Monday at 5 a.m.

The eastbound and westbound Mira Mesa Boulevard on-ramps to southbound I-805 will be closed. Caltrans officials say the eastbound on-ramp will be shut down from Friday at 9 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., while the westbound on-ramp will be closed from Saturday at 2 a.m. to Sunday at 10 a.m.

The closures are part of Caltrans' $74 million I-805 High Occupancy Vehicle/Carroll Canyon Road Extension Project, which is set to open by the end of the year.


Multiple connector closures on southbound SR-163 through Balboa Park area Sunday morning

Crews have scheduled multiple connector closures along state Route 163 through the Balboa Park area on Sunday morning from 3 a.m.-10 a.m. for routine maintenance roadway work.

The first closure will take place from eastbound and westbound Interstate 8 to southbound SR-163.    

Motorists traveling eastbound I-8 will be detoured to southbound Interstate 805, to southbound Interstate 15, to westbound State Route 94, to northbound I-5.  Motorists traveling westbound I-8 will be directed to continue to southbound I-5.

The second closure is from northbound and southbound SR-163 to northbound and southbound I-5.   

Motorists traveling northbound SR-163 will be detoured to westbound I-8, to northbound I-5. No detour will be available for southbound SR-163 as the connector will be closed.


SR-52/SR-125 connector closures Saturday morning

Crews will close two connectors Saturday morning at different times to seal cracks on the pavement. The eastbound state Route 52 connector to southbound state Route 125 will be closed from 3 a.m.-5 a.m. The westbound SR-52 connector to southbound SR-125 will be closed from 5 a.m.-8 a.m.

Eastbound SR-52 to southbound SR-125 detour:  Continue eastbound on SR-52 to Mission Gorge Road, continue eastbound on Mission Gorge Road and then to southbound SR-125.

Westbound SR-52 to southbound SR-125 detour:  Continue on westbound SR-52 to Fanita Drive, to Mission Gorge Road, continue westbound on Mission Gorge Road, and then to southbound SR-125.


Southbound I-5 to eastbound/westbound SR-78 closed Saturday morning

Caltrans maintenance crews will close the southbound Interstate 5 connector to eastbound and westbound state Route for sign work on Saturday morning from 3 a.m.-7 a.m.

Detours will be posted directing travelers to continue on southbound I-5 to Las Flores, continue on Las Flores to northbound I-5, and continue northbound on I-5 to eastbound or westbound SR-78.


Eastbound SR-94 connector to northbound SR-15

The eastbound state Route 94 connector ramp to northbound State Route 15 (SR-15) will be closed for a paving project Saturday morning from 5-10, according to Caltrans.  

Two detours will be available:

-- The first detour directs travelers to continue on eastbound SR-94 to southbound SR-15, take the Market Street off-ramp, and continue on Market Street to the northbound SR-15 on-ramp.

-- The second detour advises motorists to continue on eastbound SR-94 and take the northbound Euclid off-ramp, continue on northbound Euclid to westbound SR-94, continue on westbound SR-94 to northbound I-805, and then continue to northbound SR-15.
