Multi-vehicle crash on SR-163 in Kearny Mesa snarls traffic

SAN DIEGO - An obstruction in the roadway on northbound state Route 163 and Kearny Villa Road caused a multi-vehicle crash that tied up traffic for about an hour on Sunday, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.
"There was a dog crate lying on the roadway and it led to a collision involving four or five vehicles," the dispatcher said about the incident that occurred about 3:30 p.m.
The dispatcher said an ambulance responded to the scene. It is unclear if anyone was injured.
At least three lanes of traffic were shut down due to the crash.
The scene had been cleared and traffic lanes were reopened before 4:30 p.m., the dispatcher said.
