EL CAJON, Calif. - One person died Sunday after a motorcycle collided with a vehicle in an El Cajon intersection.
A motorcyclist was headed west on West Washington Avenue shortly before 6 a.m. and was struck by the eastbound passenger vehicle at the intersection with Van Houten Avenue, El Cajon police Lt. Randy Soulard said.
Soulard said the passenger vehicle's driver did not see the oncoming motorcycle and turned into the rider's path. The motorcyclist was unable to stop or avoid crashing, he said.
Police and paramedics were called after the crash, but the rider died at the scene despite first responders' life-saving efforts, Soulard said. His name was withheld pending family notification.
The other motorists involved in the crash were not injured, he said.
Soulard said that although the investigation was ongoing, alcohol did not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
He asked anyone with information regarding the collision to call the El Cajon Police Department's Traffic Division at (619) 441-1632.
