SANTEE, Calif. - A motorcyclist who led a sheriff's deputy on a pursuit in Santee on Wednesday has been arrested.

Just before 9 a.m., a deputy spotted a man on a motorcycle speeding westbound on Mission Gorge Road and attempted to pull him over.

Instead, the motorcyclist went through a red light with the deputy in pursuit and made a U-turn on state Route 125, going the opposite direction of traffic.

The man then crashed the motorcycle off the highway and tried to run away. The deputy chased the man, who did not appear to be injured, and took him into custody.
