RAMONA, Calif. - A motorcyclist died Saturday when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a van in Ramona.
The victim was identified as Gordon Wayne Smock, 55, of Ramona.
The crash occurred at 5:52 p.m. near the intersection of San Vicente Road and Wildcat Canyon Road in Ramona, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office.
Smock was traveling eastbound on San Vicente Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle and swerved into oncoming traffic, collided with a van, and was ejected onto the roadway, the Medical Examiner's report said.
Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene due to fatal trauma.
