Mother, daughter find man with gun in their Chula Vista home

CHULA VISTA, Calif. - A mother and her teenage daughter called police after coming home from dinner to find a man with a gun in their Chula Vista home.

"They ran and called us," said Lt. Don Redmond, who is with the Chula Vista police. "We responded. We went into the apartment, and the subject was gone."

Officers armed with assault rifles surrounded the Mission Garden Condominium complex on E Street and forced neighbors back in their homes until police were certain the gunman had fled.

The mother told 10News that the alarm started to go off just as she was opening the front door. Her 13-year-old daughter saw a man pointing a revolver at them from the second-story balcony.

Nothing was missing from the house, and no injuries were reported.

Neighbors told 10News that several cars have recently been burglarized in the parking lot.
