SAN DIEGO - More than 300 children enjoyed breakfast, a private animal show at SeaWorld and a $100 holiday shopping spree at the Midway-area Target as part of the annual "Shop with a Cop" event on Saturday morning.
The "Shop with a Cop" event is in its 19th year and provides not only holiday gifts for less fortunate families but also positive interaction with local law enforcement officers.
More than 300 officers participated in Saturday's event, which was co-hosted by the Coronado and San Diego Harbor Police Departments.
The children were chosen by STAR/PAL, a nonprofit police athletic league that offers free youth programs.
"Shop with a Cop" is sponsored by local law enforcement agencies, SeaWorld, Target, STAR/PAL and the San Diego Crime Commission.
10News anchor Kimberly Hunt and Billy Ray Smith served as the masters of ceremony for the event.
