SAN DIEGO - More than 100 couples are scheduled to tie the knot Thursday in Valentine's Day civil ceremonies at the San Diego County Clerk's office.

The clerk's office at the County Administration Center and its satellite locations in Chula Vista, El Cajon and San Marcos have 114 time slots for appointments combined, and 112 have been snapped up. There are also 147 appointments booked to receive wedding licenses.

Walk-ins will be accepted at the downtown location from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to the clerk's office.

"We are planning on added staff at our downtown location for Valentine's Day to accommodate all those wanting to be married on this special day," county Clerk Ernest Dronenburg said.

The three other offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A standard marriage license costs $70, while a confidential marriage license is $89. A civil wedding is $88. The office can also provide a witness for $18.

Licenses do not require blood tests or waiting periods.
