SAN DIEGO - A fire that damaged a house under construction in Mission Hills is being investigated Thursday.

The two-story home went up in flames in the 4400 block of Ampudia Street at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Neighbors told 10News the home has been under construction for a year. They also reported some suspicious activity and that they saw children throwing something at the house when the fire started.

"I was cooking getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner and all of a sudden I hear two booms, real quick, boom-boom, I mosied on outside and I saw flames.. that quick," said one neighbor.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze in about 30 minutes.

The department's Metro Arson Strike Team was also called to the scene.
